Position Description

As a Senior Electrical Engineer you will be responsible for working within the framework of a team and performing the following activities:

  • Analyze, program, troubleshoot, and document the hardware and firmware of embedded medical electrical systems
  • Create firmware for programmable logic devices such as DSPs, FPGAs, and CPLDs
  • Participate in hardware and firmware design reviews
  • Guide technical support staff on system performance and integration requirements
  • Provide written reports, protocols, and engineering documentation for testing and data analysis of component parts and integrated systems
  • Provide design know how for external vendors and supplier development
  • Support other groups during integration of hardware, firmware, and software
  • Supervise and prepare lab technician tasks and projects as required

Position Requirements

This position requires the following skills and attributes:

  • BS in computer engineering, electrical engineering or related engineering degree
  • 7+ years of professional experience in embedded electrical systems design and test
  • Proficiency with 32-bit microprocessors, DSPs, FPGAs, and CPLDs
  • Proficiency with Verilog, C/C++, assembly, compilers, and debuggers
  • Electronics troubleshooting skills with ability to use oscilloscopes, signal generators, and other lab equipment
  • Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to effectively communicate hardware and firmware requirements and designs to team members of all levels
  • Ability to perform in a team environment

Preferred

The following skills and attributes are preferred:

  • MS in computer engineering, electrical engineering or related engineering degree
  • Experience with medical device development
  • Experience with Altera CPLD’s and FPGA’s
  • Experience with Quartus
  • Experience with Altium
  • Experience with ARM processors or similar
  • Proficiency with an RTOS, preferably Micrium µC/OS-II
  • Professional and working experience using IEC 60601-1 family of standards
