Software Test Engineer

Position Description

As a Software Test Engineer, you will be responsible for working within the framework of a team and performing the following activities:

  • The successful candidate will be instrumental in verifying and validating embedded software/firmware for medical devices
  • Execute test protocols, log and track defects to closure, and collaborate with team to resolve
  • Participate in test protocol reviews, evaluate for test coverage and adequacy
  • Support submission of written reports, test protocols, and engineering documentation for testing of medical devices
  • Interface with engineering professionals to ensure that features function as expected
  • Review and document test specifications, results, ensure quality records are maintained

Position Requirements

This position requires the following skills and attributes:

  • Bachelor Degree
  • Knowledge of software development life cycles
  • Effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Candidate must have a strong educational foundation for a position in software test
  • Candidate must be eager to learn to work at the hardware software boundary of embedded devices
  • Strong documentation skills and attention to detail
  • Fully support the Quality Policy by building quality into all aspects of work and by maintaining compliance to all quality requirements
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook



The following skills and attributes are preferred:

  • Programming skill and experience with C, assembly or other comparable programming languages, scripting languages, compilers, debuggers, test automation systems and bug tracking systems
  • Experience with embedded firmware and RTOS. Industry experience in medical device or embedded device design/test. Understanding of electronic test and embedded devices
  • Experience reading schematics and using electronic test equipment
  • Experience supporting development or manufacturing electronics teams
  • Experience with content management systems, document management systems, LabView
