Position Description

As a Software Engineer - Web Developer you will be responsible for working within the framework of a team and performing the following activities: 

  • Collaborate with management and cross-functional teams to help define the direction for web development projects for Surgical Simulation
  • Design and build scalable frameworks for web applications
  • Implement user interfaces using JavaScript, HTML and CSS
  • Condense complicated requirements into clear, actionable tasks that can be assessed and completed
  • Deliver application features in an agile, iterative environment
  • Write clean, testable, maintainable, and well-documented code
  • Conduct code reviews and follow proper software development procedures
  • Create project plans and timelines
  • Communicate updates, issues and opportunities to management and cross-functional teams

Position Requirements

This position requires the following skills and attributes:

  • BS in Computer Science or an equivalent degree
  • 3+ years of experience in professional web development
  • Experience with a popular web framework (Node.js/Express, Ruby/Rails, Python/Django, Java/Spring, Php/Laravel)
  • Programming experience in C, C++ or Java
  • Experience with JavaScript, HTML and CSS in both desktop and mobile webspaces
  • Effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills


The following skills and attributes are preferred:

  • Experience with Spring, SQL and Hibernate
  • Experience with application containerization (Docker, etc) and cloud hosting (AWS, Azure, etc)
  • Experience in an Agile Scrum/Kanban environment
  • Experience in working on cross-browser platforms
  • Experience in a leadership or mentoring role
