Position Description

As an Engineering Technician, you will be responsible for working within the framework of a team and performing the following activities:


  • Perform evaluation, testing and troubleshooting of finished devices and their respective components, subassemblies and test fixtures
  • Assist the Engineering team in design verification and process verification/validation testing
  • Develop and update engineering documents such as manufacturing instructions, drawings and test methods
  • Build, set up, test, troubleshoot, repair and/or modify tooling, fixtures, parts, and other equipment
  • Maintain individual component, subassembly and prototype inventories
  • Execute engineering test protocols and reports, conduct various testing, and collect and analyze data
  • Maintain a database of testing files and data sheets
  • Identify problems with, and initiate improvements to, current testing techniques/methods or  processes/products
  • Communicate with various teams regarding actions required by the project engineers
  • Oversee lab maintenance and organization
  • Coordinate with vendors and the Calibration team to maintain lab equipment
  • Maintain compliance with design control procedures
  • Assist project engineers in meeting deadlines, completing milestones and performing day-to-day tasks

This position requires the following skills and attributes:


  • Understand technical reasoning, prototyping and manufacturing processes
  • Ability to learn new products/processes and design control procedures quickly
  • Work effectively in a team environment
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word
  • Demonstrate proficiency by performance and/or certification regarding basic mechanical aptitude
  • Ability to work independently, resolve issues and manage multiple tasks and priorities
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as assembly procedures, engineering drawings, testing protocols, and equipment procedures
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Minimum of a high school degree


The following skills and attributes are preferred:


  • Associate degree in a technical discipline
  • Prior experience in the testing of medical device products
  • Experience in manufacturing processes such as machining, injection molding, extrusion, and stamping
  • Experience in 3D modeling software such as SolidWorks or Autocad
