Position Description

The responsibility of a First Article Inspector is to support the Engineering team in inspecting materials, tooling, fixtures, etc. to ensure they meet dimensional specifications. You may also provide the Engineering team with additional support, as required. These activities will be carried out in accordance with all applicable Quality System Regulations. As a First Article Inspector, you will be responsible for working within the framework of a team and performing the following activities:

  • The First Article Inspector works with Engineering and other teams to inspect component dimensions with the use of vision systems, gauges, calipers, and other measuring tools to ensure they meet specifications as noted on Engineering’s drawings and/or other specification documents
  • Generate reports containing inspection results
  • Communicate with Engineering and other teams regarding inspection results
  • Comply with all quality system and safety regulations as they pertain to the First Article Inspection team’s duties
  • Responsible for performing inspections within a given time frame Communicate the methods used to complete the inspections
  • Be effective in written communications through emails or memorandums

Position Requirements

  • Must be proficient with Nikon Vision System (or similar technology) and other measuring tools including calipers, micrometers, blocks, and gauges
  • Must be able to fix components to execute specifications per Engineering’s drawings
  • Must be proficient in reading and interpreting engineering drawings per ASME Y14.5
  • Must be proficient with a variety of computer programs including spreadsheets and word processing, as required
  • Must have a technical aptitude and be detail oriented
  • Must communicate effectively orally and in writing
  • Must be able to work in an individual and team environment
  • Be able to lift up to 20 lbs

Preferred

  • Previous experience in First Article Inspection or Quality Control Inspection is preferred
  • GD&T and CAD experience preferred but not required
  • Familiar with Microsoft Excel
