Position Description

As a Technical Writer, you will be responsible for working within the framework of a team and performing the following activities:

  • Collect, research and interpret technical information and craft it into comprehensive, succinct and digestible material for the product end user
  • Interface with design, engineering and user experience teams to ensure and authenticate technical correctness of information and data
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to help align and manage information, data content and documents in multiple formats and media for technical notes, engineering reports/documents, test protocols, etc.

Position Requirements

This position requires the following skills and attributes:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Knowledge of document and hardware/software development life cycles
  • Effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Strong educational foundation for a position in hardware or software fields
  • Eager to learn to work at the hardware/software boundary of embedded devices
  • Strong documentation skills and attention to detail
  • Fully support Applied Medical’s Quality Policy by building quality into all aspects of work and by maintaining compliance to all quality requirements
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Visio, and Outlook


The following skills and attributes are preferred:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Software
  • Industry experience in medical device or embedded device
  • Ability to read schematics and use electronic test equipment
  • Knowledge of quality standards and regulations
  • Experience supporting development or manufacturing electronics teams
  • Knowledge of content management and document management systems
