    We seek a highly motivated individual to join a dynamic team engaged in basic reserach. The candidate will be responsible for performing basic microbiology testing for various applications in medical device manufacturing and product development.

     

    The team member fulfilling this position should be a highly motivated, hands-on experimentalist who thrives in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment. Emphasis is on the ability to successfully perform experiments under supervision and interact well in a team environment.

    Position Description

     As a Jr Research Scientist Microbiology, you will be responsible for working within the framework of a team and performing the following activities:

    • Practice and maintain aseptic working conditions at all times
    • Perform Microbiology based scientific experiments
    • Provide critical analysis of data, report results of studies and make recommendations to the Senior Research Scientist in a timely, thorough, and coherent manner
    • Maintain detailed and organized documentation related to work and experiments performed
    • Implement appropriate lab safety practices

    Position Requirements

     This position requires the following skills and attributes:

     

    • A degree in Microbiology or Biochemistry: B.S. with a minimum of 3 years of laboratory research experience or M.S. degree with 2 years of laboratory research experience
    • Knowledge of standard cellular biology equipment, i.e. biosafety cabinet, incubator, centrifuge, autoclave, micropipettes, fluorescent and bright field microscopes
    • Knowledge of Microbiology and Molecular Biology techniques – bacterial culture initiation and maintenance, MIC assay, agar plate preparation and CFU assay

    Preferred

    The following skills and attributes are preferred:

    • Basic experience with growing and maintaining primary Human cell cultures
