    Position Description

    As a Metal Injection Molding Specialist, you will be responsible for working within the framework of a team and performing the following activities:

    • Perform root cause analysis for complex issues that may be related to molding, automated machines, equipment, or product/process design
    • Propose and implement corrections and corrective actions
    • Utilize knowledge of mechanical and material properties to design, develop, investigate, and create new components using MIM process
    • Research, integrate and implement new materials, technologies such as insert/over molding, metal injection molding (MIM) and additive manufacturing for process improvements
    • Design, investigate, develop and qualify new products, materials, manufacturing processes, figures, setters, EOATs and equipment
    • Generate documentation for engineering drawings, test protocols, reports, troubleshooting guides, manufacturing instruction and engineering evaluations
    • Perform basic to intermediate troubleshooting of injection molding machines
    • Implement process improvements such as: update injection molding process parameters, perform process efficiency studies for manufacturing, add line expansion, etc.
    • Lead and contribute to different projects across function groups and guide involved team to achieve set goals
    • Manage projects by developing a project schedule, preparing costing, conducting meetings, communicating issues and/or projected progress to management

    Position Requirements

    This position requires the following skills and attributes:

    • 4-year degree in Mechanical Engineering or Industrial Engineering or equivalent
    • 4+ years’ experience in metal injection molding processing, metal sintering, casting, design or production fixtures
    • Knowledge of statistical analysis of data, laboratory instrumentation, and laboratory analysis
    • Working knowledge of CAD modeling and drafting (i.e. SolidWorks)
    • Working knowledge of manufacturing processes and equipment
    • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office
    • Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
    • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
    • Self-motivation and ability to multi-task

    Preferred

    The following skills and attributes are preferred:

    • Knowledge of manufacturing processes (machining, turning, plastic forming, sheet metal fabrication, etc.)
    • Experience in a medical device manufacturing organization
