    Position Description

    As an Engineer I, you will be responsible for working within the framework of a team and performing the following activities:

    • Manage and assist in product development projects for Simsei surgical trainers and instruments from design through production phase
    • Provide engineering support to various teams such as Production, Quality Systems, Quality Control, Regulatory, Finance, Clinical Development and Procurement
    • Apply theoretical and Engineering principles using analytical techniques for the evaluation and solution of technical problems
    • Perform sustaining, development, analysis, evaluation, testing and troubleshooting of finished devises, electrical systems and their respective components, sub-assemblies and test fixtures
    • Review and evaluate non-conforming materials and address customer experience reports
    • Develop, qualify and update engineering documents such as manufacturing instructions, drawings, and test methods
    • Design, investigate, develop and qualify new products, materials, manufacturing processes, fixtures and equipment
    • Perform root cause analysis, propose and implement corrections and corrective actions
    • Conduct evaluations, process capability studies, time studies, capacity and cost analysis and implement associated improvements
    • Write test protocols and reports, conduct various testing, collect and analyze data and trends
    • Maintain compliance with Design Control procedures including developing or updating Risk Management documents, conducting design and phase review meetings, and generating device specifications through the use of Design Input and Design Output documents

    Position Requirements

    This position requires the following skills and attributes:

    • Bachelor of Science in Engineering/Science or equivalent Engineering experience
    • Understanding of technical reasoning, prototyping and manufacturing processes
    • Ability to learn new products/processes and design control procedures quickly
    • Ability to work effectively in a team environment
    • Knowledge of CAD systems or computer programming and computer science concepts
    • Demonstrate verbal and written analytical/problem solving, communication, multi-tasking, and interpersonal skills
    • Knowledge of electrical systems including microcontrollers, microprocessors, sensors, and motors


    This following skills and attributes are preferred:

    • Experience in manufacturing processes such as machining, injection molding, extrusion and stamping
    • Background in the medical device field and Design Control procedures
    • 3D modeling software experience such as SolidWorks or AutoCad
    • Experience in PCBAs, microcontrollers, FPGAs, Verilog, and IEC and IPC standards
    • Experience in prototyping software such as Arduino
